Illo-Friday-Reflection

I know this isn’t an illustration per se, but I thought this photograph might be timely and better suited to the topic than anything I could come up with. I made this picture during an assignment to photograph the traveling Viet Nam Memorial. A group of Navy vets happened to pause to look up the name of one of their relatives who died in the war.

This is pretty much an unedited photograph. What you see is what I saw.

Yeah well…sometimes the timing is such that I’ve just heard or read about yet another senseless, tragic piece of war-related news and it gets me thinkin’.

I really like this photograph. I, too, am a Vietnam Era sailor…so, this has a particular, bittersweet significance for me.
