Illustration Friday-Envy

Thanks for all the comments on this piece. Now I feel compelled to say something about it. This idea actually has been hanging around for a while and was originally going to be a pro bono poster project for a group of school volunteers. Thus the little bird was standing on top of the big one instead of looking up from below. Kind of a “…on the shoulders of giants” thing. I’m sure just by re-positioning the birds, I could use it to illustrate a multitude of themes :) .

As for the simplicity of the design…as we all know the hardest thing about “saying something” visually or verbally is knowing when to shut up. I’m no different. Sometimes however, I get lucky and seem to know when enough is enough. On the other hand, my normal process is to start out way too complex, then keep stripping away layers until the solution emerges.

    This is eerie, and you’ll see why when I post my entry in a day or so. We’ve come up with the exact same concept – but with different executions. Nice job, by the way. This would make a lovely giant poster.
